Dániel Váczi performs on his musical instrument invention, the Glissotar, with Ted Gurch, the Acquaintance Principal/E-flat Clarinetist with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. As the two duet on Glissotars, observe how the magnetic strip mimics a stringed instrument, while even so functioning as a woodwind musical instrument.
Students Touch the Futurity of Music at Guthman Competition
For Georgia Tech's music technology majors, the Guthman Musical Instrument Contest represents the pinnacle event of their creative study and research. Students help produce the concert, exhibit their work, and acquire from the judges and competitors. They even get to play the instruments!

Listening to Heartbeats 'Boosts' Empathy
New auditory technique changing emotional perception and connexion
Lead investigator and contempo Georgia Tech Ph.D. graduate, Mike Winters conducted the research in the newly formed Brain Music Lab, led by Grace Leslie in the Georgia Tech Schoolhouse of Music. The study applied knowledge of the well-known emotional furnishings of musical tempo with applied knowledge in sonification and experimental design that Winters had picked up working with Bruce Walker in the Sonification Lab.
